operation encompass

At Beaford Community Primary and Nursery School, we are part of Operation Encompass, a vital initiative run jointly between schools and the Devon and Cornwall Police. The aim of Operation Encompass is to provide early reporting to schools when a child or young person has been exposed to or involved in an incident of domestic abuse.

This early notification allows our school’s safeguarding team to offer immediate support to the child, ensuring that they feel safe and supported when they come to school. We believe that having this timely information helps us provide the care and understanding that children need, especially during difficult times.

How Operation Encompass Works

When the police attend a domestic abuse incident where children are present or involved, they notify the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead before the start of the next school day. This ensures that we can take appropriate action, whether that is offering emotional support, providing a safe space for the child, or involving other services as needed.

Our school’s safeguarding team is trained to manage these sensitive situations with the utmost care and discretion, ensuring that your child’s well-being is always a priority.

Support for Families

If your family is affected by domestic abuse, it’s important to know that support is available. Our staff are here to help, and we can connect you with additional resources and services if needed.
